Two years ago this week Real Mallorca were playing Villarreal B in Segunda B Group 3, they won with a 51st minute goal from Lago Junior. Fast forward  and Mallorca are back in the top flight and last weekend were up against an unbeaten Real Madrid team and win with a goal from Lago Junior. Some people may point to the players missing for Madrid, Hazard, Bale, Kronos and Modric but they still had enough international talent out there including Courtois, Ramos, James and Benzema. Putting that into perspective against a Mallorca team that had 6 players that had played in Segunda B, Reina, Sastre, Raíllo, Gámez, Salva Sevilla y Lago Junior it was an amazing performance. So good in fact that 3 players, Gamez, Baba and Lago Junior made the La Liga team of the week. Lago Junior for his goal which he took really well, Gamez who moved from left back to right back to stop Vinicius who was giving Sastre the run around. But for me Baba was outstanding, bossing the Madrid midfield of Casemiro and Isco with an outstanding defensive midfield display. He’s 23 years old and has been with the club for 5 years coming through the ranks. I wouldn’t be surprised if the so called bigger clubs come sniffing at the end of the season. The atmosphere at the stadium was jumping with the 20,275 being Mallorca’s best so far and they weren’t disappointed. So much so hardly any left before the end, which quite a few normally do. The majority stayed to applaud the team off and cap what was a brilliant night. Onto bottom of the table Leganés this Saturday where there can’t be a better opportunity for them to pick up 3 away points. They also play at home this coming Thursday 31st, Halloween night against Osasuna, who have 2 former Mallorca players in their side in Brandon and Estupiñan.

Our other professional team and top of their league Atlético Baleares went away to second placed UD Ibiza. A scrappy game I’m told by our “Man in San An” with few chances and Baleares won with a second half goal from Gabbare. A good crowd of 3,500 with a good following from here who went away happy with Baleares now 5 points clear at the top.

My youngest Jude started his season with a 3-3 draw against his old team Calvia. It was good to see some of his old team mates, their parents and his old Manager Paco who really helped him in the early days. My eldest Jakes team remain unbeaten in 4 games after a surprising 7-0 win against a team just below them.

It’s 60 sleeps to Christmas and Tyson Fury is favourite to land the Christmas No.1 as he teams up with Robbie Williams to release a song. Fury announced on social media that he will be teaming up with the former Take That star to release a festive tune.

The Gypsy King posted a mocked-up photo on Instagram featuring him and Williams singing with Christmas hats on captioned: “Can’t wait till you hear this new Christmas song”.

On Twitter, he stated: “It’s happening guys Christmas #1”, with their track entitled “Bad Sharon” set to be released on November 22. What with singing and stepping into a wrestling ring, it looks less and less likely that he’ll step back into a boxing ring soon against Deontay Wilder.

It has instantly led to Williams being installed as the 4/1 favourite to land the prestigious Christmas No.1 single by Betfair for his effort with Fury.

Ed Sheeran and Lewis Capaldi are next in the running at 6/1 with the likes of Ariana Grande (8/1), Mariah Carey and Adele (both 10/1) also in the running.
