What have you done to the Weather?

We’re into June and still no sign of this strange weather changing, what’s going on?
I haven’t been to the beach or pool yet and I definitely was posting pictures on social media this time last year trying to annoy everybody in the UK. Now they seem to be getting the better weather. “It’ll never last” is the old adage but at the moment I’m not so sure. Surely Frinton on Sea (no offence, it was the first that came to mind) can’t be becoming more popular than us?
So as the weathers so rubbish how about this. It’s 199 sleeps to Christmas and this year’s must-have toys have been revealed!
According to the retailer Argos, 2018 will be the ‘year of the unicorn’ with toys based on the mythical creatures on its list for this year. They include the My Lovely Unicorn Electric Ride-On(£229.99) and the Poopsie unicorn(£49.99) which expels glitter.(from where??!!)
A range of dinosaur-themed Fingerlings and the LOL Surprise Under Wraps(£14.99) have also made the list, while canine TV stars Paw Patrol return with the new Rescue Fire Truck Playset. Classic items making a return to the list of expected best-sellers include the Lego City Arctic Mobile Exploration Base (£84.99)
So now you have the heads up can we get back to the Summer please?
I took the boys to see the new film Han Solo last Weekend as the weather was rubbish! We went to the Rivoli in Palma, which I’ve never been to before. It was like going back in time to the cinemas of yesteryear but the seats were comfortable and the film was great. I won’t giveaway the plot but it has loads of great references to the other Star Wars films. We’re planning on going to see Jurassic World this weekend.
Update on my ostrich egg story last week. I was contacted by a friend of mine Mickey Nuts(Don’t ask, if I told you, you wouldn’t believe me!) who tells me there’s an ostrich farm between Inca and Llubi. So all you chefs out there how about an ostrich egg fry up?
We’re just 5 days away from the World Cup in Russia. My earliest memories of the Competition is 1974 in West Germany as it was then. I was born in 1966 in case you’re wondering so that was too early! We always have high hopes for England so let’s see. My heart says go and win it but my business head says get knocked out as it plays havoc with our show schedule in Pirates.
Our World Cup Predictor League is up and running on the radio. If you were with us for the Premier League Predictor you can sign in as before and look for our code p2lil. If not please go to http://www.predictor.talksport.com and register yourself and then add our Mini league code p2lil. Myself and the Bookie will be doing our predictions on the Breakfast show so join us for some great banter during the tournament.
I had a look at some of the Worlds top players who are not going to the World Cup as their country didn’t qualify and managed to make up this team. Not bad on paper!
1. Jan Oblak Slovenia
2. Antonio Valencia Ecuador
3. David Alaba Austria
4. Virgil Van Dijk Holland
5. Leonardo Bonucci Italy
6. Naby Keita Guinea
7. Mírales Pjanic Bosnia Herzegovina
8. Gareth Bale Wales
9. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Gabon
10. Alexis Sanchez Chile
11. Riyadh Mahrez Algeria
Sad to hear of the passing of former Mallorca resident Peter Stringfellow this week. He always helped us with our Pirates Charity Premieres whether it was a prize, a donation or helping me with the auction. The comments on my Facebook page and the radio Facebook page showed how much he was loved both here and around the World. Sending my love and condolences to Bella and all of the family.
One of the stories this week that got a lot of reaction on the radio was that Salad Cream is set for a makeover. Food lovers have apparently reacted with outrage after Heinz announced it is to ditch the name Salad Cream. The jar, which has been a staple of many British cupboards since 1914, is to be given the altogether more dubious name of Sandwich Cream.
The food giant Heinz made the announcement, saying the move is necessary after 104 years following a fall in sales.
The maker claims that as only 14% of buyers actually used the gloopy white sauce on salads, the old name no longer reflects its modern purpose. Salad Cream became popular during the Second World War when tomato ketchup was in short supply.
The exact recipe is a secret but homemade versions are known to include egg, mustard, lemon juice, white wine vinegar, double cream, olive oil, pepper and sugar.
Every year 18,900 tonnes of Heinz Salad Cream is consumed in the UK and it has 60% less fat than standard mayonnaise.
We had a great reaction on Social Media when we asked what people use it for.
For me it has to be egg mayonnaise(salad cream) sandwiches.
After mentioning Palma born Jorge Lorenzo last week he went and won his first Moto GP race riding for Ducati. Good luck to Real Mallorca this weekend in their second leg play-off and hopefully Rafa Nadal wins the French Open too.
Enjoy Your Weekend!
