The Royal Wedding!

Did someone mention a wedding? Well unless you’ve been in total hibernation then yes today’s the day when all eyes will be on Windsor Castle. If you’re sat there reading this then like me you never got the invite!
So we’ll have to make do with watching it on TV. But what channel will you watch?
The BBC will have Huw Edwards , Kirsty Young and Dermott O’Leary with Scarlett Moffat doing some stuff for Radio1. People may question both Dermott and Scarlett not being the more traditional presenters but the BBC are obviously looking for the younger crowd who they can relate to.
ITV have Pip Schofield with Julie Etchingham, i can see why they didn’t go with Holly Willoughby but her and Pip have such a great rapport and following maybe that wouldn’t have been a bad call? The other thing here is you’ll need to contend with the ad breaks.
Sky News have a more traditional Kay Burley, Anna Botting and Alastair Bruce. They are the first to show a royal event in UHD or in Ultra High Definition to you and I which is four times the picture quality of HD.
After reading the following you might think that being in front of the tv is not so bad after all as there’s a strict code of etiquette for everyone there.
No open-toed shoes
Although the forecast is hot and sunny for Harry and Meghan’s big day, guests will have to keep their toes under wraps.
They must wear closed shoes, so no strappy Manolos allowed.
Nude tights
Not sure how they’re going to enforce this one, but ladies are required to wear tights or stockings in a nude colour.
Never leave before The Queen
The Queen is the marker for stopping and starting everything at a royal wedding. That means you don’t leave the church until she does, and you also finish eating as soon as she’s done.
That feels like a lot of pressure for HRH, but I’m sure she’ll manage.
No talking to the press afterwards
It’s pretty much a no-brainer that you don’t go blabbing to the media if you’ve attended the wedding.
Details are kept secret by the Royal Family, and it’s in good faith that nobody reveals them afterwards.
No phones or selfies
Along that same vein, guests have apparently been asked to leave their phones at home, as they won’t be allowed inside the church.
Selfies are also a big faux-pas.
Skyscraper heels are a no-no
Victoria Beckham got a bit of stick after the previous royal wedding, when her sky- high Louboutins raised eyebrows at the palace.
Queen Elizabeth is apparently not a fan of wedges either, so guests are urged to avoid those too.
Hats at all times in church
A hat is compulsory for all guests at the wedding ceremony. Even the fellas? 
The kind of hat worn isn’t specified, though, so you could potentially go all out like Beatrice and Eugenie with their Philip Treacy numbers a few years back.
Use the loo between 9am and 11am
In a handbook issued to Saturday’s guests, they’re advised to go to the toilet before they get to the venue, as there will be limited facilities available.
It’d certainly be awkward to interrupt the wedding of the year to nip to the loo.
Lay off on the booze
Perhaps this should be advice for all wedding guests.
Etiquette experts have warned that drunkenness will not be tolerated.
No presents
Harry and Meghan have already asked for charity donations instead of gifts for their wedding.
Those who do shirk this advice, however, have been asked to not bring gifts to the day itself and send any presents to the family home.
I’ll be at a football pitch in Bunyola when it all kicks-off. Will their be a highlights programme later?
Apologies for missing my column last week but our Radiothon got in the way. A massive thank you to everyone who helped us, 27 hours live on the radio isn’t easy believe me but I was helped along the way by loads of amazing people. There’s too many to mention but you all know who you are and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart as without your support the charities don’t get the support they need and deserve. We’re around the 14,000€ mark but we’ll have a better idea once we get to the end of this month.
Good luck to Real Mallorca this weekend in their play-off 1st leg against Mirandes. Kick-off is 12 midday at the Son Moix and they need your support. At the time of writing just under 10,000 tickets have been sold so it would be great to get nearer to 15,000 on the day. It’s really important for the island and local football for Mallorca to get back into the second division and then if possible La Liga. Also good for local football was Atlético Baleares saving themselves from relegation on the last day of the season for exactly the same reasons as above.
As I missed last week I haven’t had the opportunity to recount mine and the boys trip to watch Atlético Madrid v Arsenal. Their new stadium is unbelievable and the atmosphere is probably one of the best I have ever witnessed. Now the result wasn’t what we wanted but the experience for the boys you can’t take away. Us losing to the eventual winners takes the pain away slightly and you shouldn’t underestimate what Diego Simeone has done to that team. There are some outstanding players there such as Oblak, Godin, Gabi, Diego Costa and Griezmann. All could walk into most teams in Europe.
On our way back from Madrid more proof in case you needed any that Ryanair push you to pay for where they want you to sit. Jude my 8yr old sat in 5E(centre), Jake my 12yr old sat in 30B(centre) & me in 31B(centre). Both seats either side of me empty. Now you can say pay to sit together but why should we when we’ve already paid? Someone sent me the rules given on seating by the CAA and I quote “The seating of children close by their parents or guardians should be the aim of airline seat allocation procedures for family groups and large parties of children. Young children and infants who are accompanied by adults should ideally be seated in the same seat row as the adult. Where this is not possible, children should be separated by no more than one seat row from accompanying adults. This is because the speed of an emergency evacuation may be affected by adults trying to reach their children.” So why is nothing being done to get them to change this policy?
Must give a shout out to my two boys and their footballing exploits. Jude my youngest a goalkeeper with his team Calviá who beat the top of the League Son Caliu by 2-1 last weekend. A few of the opposition are his school mates so all the bragging rights were his on Monday. My eldest Jacob finished his season last Sunday as top scorer with 18 goals and after a tough start his team finished a respectable 10th. We met with the club last week and he’s been asked back which is great and he’s already looking forward to next season.
