Awful weather here in Majorca this week as storm Gloria left a trail of destruction across the island. Hopefully that’s the worst of the winter over and we can look forward to the spring.
Brexit is happening next Friday and I’m interviewing the British Consul General Lloyd Milen. They’re keen to send a message of reassurance to UK Nationals in Majorca about what that means for them. The interview will be around 8am in the morning on Radio One Mallorca.
After my holiday in Mexico I discovered that the chain of hotels I stayed in have links here in Majorca. Amresorts have under the brand Secrets the hotel Villamil in Paguera. One of the first to open in Europe, Secrets Mallorca Villamil Resort & Spa is a treat for those looking for an adults-only, relaxing romantic getaway nestled along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. They also have Alua Hotels & Resorts who offer modern, unique and fun beach holidays. Six Seaside options range from adults-only to family vacations designed to help guests find happiness here on the island. I hope what I saw in Mexico is replicated here in Majorca.
A chart showing the top 10 most popular holiday playlist tracks on Spotify has been revealed. Researchers analysed 7,000 playlists on the music streaming service
The research was carried out by CV Villas who have lots of villas across the island. They looked at 154,624 tracks on Spotify playlists that contain the words’ holiday playlist’, ‘beach playlist’, ‘summer tunes’, ‘summertime songs’ and ‘holiday playlist 2020’ to find the 100 most popular tunes.
Here is the top 10.
1. Piece Of Your Heart – Meduza
2. Summer – Calvin Harris
3. Dance Monkey – Tones and I
4. Senorita – Shawn Mendes
5. Waves – Mr. Probz
6. One Kiss – Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa
7. 3 Nights – Dominic Fike
8. Sunflower – Post Malone and Swa Lee
9. I Don’t Care – Ed Sheeran with Justin Bieber
10. Body – Loud Luxur
The result shows I think that Spotify is more popular among younger people by the tracks that are listed.
UD Ibiza were just 15 minutes away from causing one of the biggest upsets in Spanish football history this week against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey. Two goals from Antoine Griezmann saved the Catalans blushes. The 6,500 fans who packed into Can Misses enjoyed a great first half and Ibiza were unlucky not to be 3 goals to the good. Apart from the opener in the 8th minute, they had a debatable goal disallowed for a foul and they also hit the post. Barcelona’s strength and class shone through in the end but a night to be proud of for UD Ibiza. Their line-up was full of the great and good that have entertained on the white isle for many years as you can see below.
  1. David Guetta (King between the sticks)
  2. Chicane (good on corners)
  3. Dave Pearce (aka the old Psycho)
  4. Martin Makepeace (C) (loves the sound of his own voice)
  5. DeadMau5 (the number’s in the name)
  6. Hardwell (midfield enforcer)
  7. Judge Jules (was banned but got off with a lighter sentence)
  8. Martin Garrix (youngster with a big future)
  9. Diplo (free-kick specialist)
  10. Wayne Lineker (if only he was as good as his brother)
  11. Pete Tong (aka “its all going” in the dressing room)
Gaffer: Fergie DJ (still got it)
Real Mallorca lost in the Copa del Rey away at Real Zaragoza from La Liga 123. Mainly a second string team who struggled having not really played together, losing 3-1. Better news last Sunday as they demolished Valencia 4-1 in the league. Probably their best performance of the season which was played in dreadful conditions. The rain that I mentioned above never stopped all game and I have to admit me and the boys missed our first game in a long time as we didn’t fancy a soaking as we’re in the cheap seats in the uncovered stand. They currently stand just out of the relegation places in 17th place on 18 points and have a difficult away game against Real Sociedad on Sunday. Atlético Baleares are at home on Sunday, a 12 midday kick-off. Having lost last week, it’s going to be between them, Atlético Madrid B and UD Ibiza to who finishes top.
My youngest Jude won 9-0 last week and my youngest Jacob drew 1-1. Both are going well in their respective leagues but neither have a game this week. So no Dad Taxi, giving us time to celebrate my Wife’s birthday.
Enjoy your weekend!
